PhotoWham FAQ

How do I register?    Registration is easy! Simply visit the PhotoWham page, select your licensing option, and purchase online. A key will be immediately displayed (and emailed) allowing you to register the software and remove the demonstration version restrictions.

How do I resize the images?    To enable/disable resizing, select/de-select the Active check box in the Resize Image area on the settings page.

The Small, Medium, and Large options allow you to quickly choose among preset image sizes. The numbers refer to the number of pixels on the long side of the image. The aspect ratio of the image will always be maintained, so the number of pixels on the shorter side are calculated based on the source image.

The Custom option allows you to set any size you like. This number will be rounded in order to maintain the quality of the image. (See FAQ "Why does the Size Max setting sometimes change when I save settings?")

How do I add a watermark to the images?    To enable/disable watermarks, select/de-select the Active check box in the Add Watermark area on the settings page.

The watermarking function allows you to place a watermerk in the lower right corner of each image. Any text can be entered here. If the text is larger than the image, it will be cut off.

Putting the text (year) anywhere in the text area will cause PhotoWham to substitute the current year. This is done to enable easy copyright notice setup that won't need to be changed each year.

To choose/change the font, click the change font button underneath the text area.

How do I adjust JPEG quality?    To enable/disable adjustment of JPEG quality, select/de-select the Active check box in the Adjust JPEG Quality area on the settings page.

This function allows you to reduce JPEG quality, creating a smaller image file.

This is for advanced users. If you are not familiar with the effects of adjusting JPEG quality, leave this disabled by clearing its check box.

How do I change the output file name?    To enable/disable changing of the output file name, select/de-select the Active check box in the Change Output File Name area on the settings page.

PhotoWham allows you to prepend or append text to the file name of the output image. Entering the text (size) in this box will cause the file name to be appended or prepended with the chosen size from the Resize Image area. Alternatively, you can enter any text you like here.

How do I change the output folder?    To enable/disable changing of the output folder, select/de-select the Active check box in the Change Output Folder area on the settings page.

The change output folder option is very powerful. It allows you to select either:
  • Global output folder - PhotoWham will place all processed images in one folder, regardless of where they came from
  • Sub folder - PhotoWham will place all processed images in a folder underneath the folder the images came from. If the folder does not exist, it will be created.
The sub folder option is good for making smaller copies of images to email, while retaining your folder structure.

Note: No combination of settings will allow the source images to be overwritten.

Why does the Size Max setting sometimes change when I save settings?    JPEG images best handle resizing when each dimension is a multiple of 16 pixels. Failing to adhere to this recommendation can cause irreversible quality loss in the image, particularly if the image is ever rotated. In order to maximize the quality of your photographs, PhotoWham rounds each dimension down to the nearest multiple of 16 pixels.

I got an error when I try to run PhotoWham for the first time.    PhotoWham requires the Microsoft .net framework version 2.0. Most Windows computers have this installed already, but if you don't, you can get it from Windows Update.

Note - all Windows Vista computers should have this already.

Windows Update is usually located in your Start menu in Windows XP.

If you experience any other errors, please contact us using the email address at the bottom of each page.
