OmniPing Pro 2.x FAQ
Can OmniPing ping a range of addresses larger than (the equivalent of) a class C?
At this time OmniPing can only handle one class C address (or the equivalent within a Class A or B range) at this time. You can set up one scheduled run for each class C under your class B if you like, but they cannot be combined in reports or schedules, they must be kept separate. This is something that is planned for a future version of OmniPing, but will likely be quite a while before it is implemented.
I'd like to be notified by e-mail when a machine fails to respond to a ping request. Can OmniPing do this?
OmniPing was designed as a discovery tool, not a monitoring tool; it does not have this functionality. Years ago the market was flooded with these utilities, but it appears that many of them have disappeared. There is a possibility that I may introduce a product that can do this if enough demand exists. Let me know if this is what you're looking for!
How many schedules can OmniPing handle?
The number of scheduled runs allowed is virtually unlimited!
I'm trying to install in Win NT4/2K and it keeps asking me to reboot but nothing else happens. What's up with that?
This is usually due to a security issue. Please make sure the user logged into Windows has local Admin rights when installing. Several system files are updated (if they are out of date) by the installer, in the first part of the install, and if the user does not have local Admin rights, the installer will not be able to replace them. Unfortunately it does not explain the problem, it just asks for a reboot. A new better installation utility is forthcoming for OmniPing.
